Professor Käthe Schneider, the Coordinator of this project, has done research and writing on fundamental capacities for many years. She has produced over 30 papers, book chapters and monographs in the field of research on meaning making and fundamental competences and has made contributions to self-development and presented a new model of self-development. The relevance of this model is shown by papers in peer-reviewed journals, invited book chapters, numerous presentations at International academic conferences and a Masters programme developed by the Department of Adult Education at FSU based on this model.

Among other activities, Professor Schneider participates on the editorial or advisory board of several international journals. At WHU, the Otto Beisheim School of Management, Germany, a leading European Business School, she was in charge of the executive development programmes for several years.

The model of self-development based on meaning making and identity is a major part of the theoretical foundation of this research project.
